College Treating Data Investigation Involving Publishers of Emma's Diary 'Very Seriously'

"The College has had a long-running relationship with the publisher of Emma's Diary, and the publisher is co-operating fully with the ICO investigation. The RCGP provides medical guidance for the publication but does not hold or receive data and has had no involvement in the case being investigated.

"This matter falls within the remit of the Trustee Board of the College, which immediately commissioned an urgent report and legal advice.

"The complex legal issues involved mean that we are unable to comment further at present but we wish to reassure our members that we are treating this issue very seriously and doing everything we can to reach a speedy solution. We will update our members as the situation develops."
